Madd Gear Pro Base Model Scooter Review

Madd Gear Pro Base Model Scooter Review

Due to Team Razor dominating the pro scooter scene other manufacturers might not get the attention they deserve. I wanted to find out what other options there are available for us scooter lovers. I wanted to try Madd Gear, the Australian scooter company founded in 2002. Those Aussies know how to build wakeboards and water skis. It was time to find out whether they know anything about riding.

1. Shipping

Shipping being very important part of the order interested me. Being an Australian firm I thought they’d ship it from Australia. But they wouldn’t. The Amazon page says the product is made in China and shipped by Amazon.com so I guess it’s shipped either from China or the States. Anyway the shipping was free with the Super Saver Shipping discount. You just have to wait for 5-8 business days to item to arrive. And to me it arrived on the day six. I could wait but if you can’t – get a faster shipping and pay little more.

It arrived in nice package and it was time to check out how it looked…

2. Look and Feel

I think it looks cool. Madd Gear scooter look cool. The deck has a cool yellow and green logo on it. The tires are green. The rest is black. The combination works. It really stands out from the crowd. If that’s what you want consider it a great bonus for Madd Gear rides.

Other than that, the deck is a reinforced alloy deck. Wheels are made from polyurethane and the headtube is forged. Bearings are ZXZ-C. Features sound nice – so let’s see how the scooter was in action.

3. Performance

The most important thing with pro scooters is the durability. At least I think so. It would suck if the scooter breaks when you are riding. Would be also dangerous. If something the Madd Gear scooter was durable. It’s made of high quality materials and you can feel it when riding. This time I didn’t go to the skate park but rode it around the town for some days. I would try grinds and slides off the traffic signs and such. The scooter rolled smoothly and and without problems. Plus people were fascinated by its’ looks.

I read from Amazon.com reviews that a guy had problems with the tires. After four days of riding I didn’t have any. No cracking whatsoever. The speed of the scooter was on par with the Razor scooters. Should be enough for everybody – especially in the city!

Check out the video of somebody riding the Madd Gear scooter.

4. Other things to consider

The price is currently 98 dollars. It might sound high compared to Razor scooters which are about 60 dollars. It’s not too much though. And Madd Gear scooter looks like a good investment. Paying a hundred bucks is on the upper limits of being reasonable.

You can read other people’s reviews from Amazon and see what they think about it.

5. Pros and cons

+ Looks awesome.
+ Stayed intact even after hard tricking.
+ Free shipping.

- Not much that I can think of.

6. Conclusion

The Australian manufacturer Madd Gear did good job providing pro scooters to the Americans. The scooter is high quality, fast and durable. It’s also suitable for kids. Above all it looks good. Your riding friends will probably be jealous to you. If the price sounds too much you can always check the more economical Razor Pro Model. Other than that get the amazing Madd Gear ride!
