Razor Ultra Pro Lo Scooter Review

Razor Ultra Pro Lo Scooter Review

The Team Razor is doing awesome work providing professional rides for us scooter lovers. However, the last model was not designed with kids in mind. The height was too much for young kids to ride the scooter. Thus Razor release a new model of the Ultra Pro Scooter with a lower handlebar height. It’s called Razor Ultra Pro Lo Scooter. I ordered it from Amazon.com and test-rode it.

1) Shipping

As always shipping is very important part of the order. Think about it. You just bought a new Scooter and are impatiently waiting for it. The sooner it comes the better. Or what if it doesn’t come at all? It all depends on shipping. So how was the case with this ride?

The shipment arrived after five days of waiting. And as sometimes with Amazon.com products it was a free shipping. And as usually if you are in a hurry you can pay more for faster shipping. All in all no problems with shipping.

2) Look and Feel

The main difference between Ultra Pro Lo and Ultra Pro models is the height. This one is 21 inches tall while the Ultra Pro model stands at 26 inches. You can obviously see the difference when comparing the two products.

This means the Lo model is a better choice for young riders. At 21 inches it can be ridden by kids of age 8 upwards. Other than the height it looks and feels pretty much the same than the Pro version. I especially like the aluminum body due its’ weight. Young riders can carry it well.

Razor states the scooter is non-folding for the durability. I guess it’s really a trade-off thing between portability and durability. At least out of the box the scooter feels durable. I also couldn’t help noticing the rubberized grips. For some these give blisters and chafes after some riding.

3) Performance

Riding with Ultra Pro Lo feels more safe than the Ultra Pro model. It happens because of the shorter height. While rolling with it feels safer it doesn’t mean it was worse for tricks. Quite the contrary: bunnyhops could be performed easy because you were already bending your knees a bit. All tricks with the hop were thus easier to begin with. This might’ve been my personal preference though.

I also let my friend’s kid to ride this scoot for two days. This model is obviously meant for smaller riders – or those who just prefer shorter scooters. He also took it to the skate park with his friends and tested it there. Though I don’t think it was so much testing, more having fun with it :) I visited there once and made observations of durable, safe and sturdy scooter. He also said they took a speeding competition and he won. Perhaps telling something about the speed of this scooter. The Abec-7 bearings giving the speed are disliked by some, though. I’ve read reports about the bearings wearing out with some. If this happens to you replace them with better ones.

Even though the kid enjoyed the scooter there was a minor problem later. The rubberized grips were a little rough for him and irritated his hands for a while after rolling. Not a biggie but keep this thing in mind!

4) Other things to consider

As with the other Razor products you can expect solid quality from them. They are professional riders and they design the scoots themselves. From riders, to riders. They probably know very well what they are doing.

Once again, the height is 21″. If you are over 6 feet tall it might be too low for you. It really depends on your preferences. If it feels too low for you consider getting the Ultra Pro model. The height is 26″ and will suit you if you are after a little taller scoot.

The price of this ride is currently about 60 dollars. It’s about the same than with the taller Ultra Pro model. So price-wise it doesn’t matter which one you buy.

5) Pros and cons

+ Solid Razor quality.
+ Suitable for smaller riders (or those preferring a shorter scooter).
+ Reasonably prized.

- Hand grips might irritate some.

6) Conclusion

The shorter version of Razor Ultra Pro Scooter. Not much difference than the height. The handgrips might feel a little rough for you in the beginning. If you want to ride with a shorter version (for example you prefer it for tricks) get this one. Also for kids get this one. If you want a normal height version or don’t know which one to buy go with the Ultra Pro model.
